As Chairman, CEO and co-founder of MACH Energy, Walt has led MACH Energy’s rise to its position as the leading energy management technology solution for the commercial real estate industry. Walt was recently selected as one of the Top 35 executives to watch by the industry's technology trade association RealComm. Prior MACH Energy, Walt spent over 20 years in the energy industry in a number of key leadership positions. As Sr. Vice President, he ran the nationwide unregulated electricity and natural gas businesses for Sempra Energy, a $6B San Diego based utility. At Dow Chemical, he conceived of, secured funding for and guided a new division to profitability by leveraging several high profile deals including a landmark network transmission agreement that was reported on the front page of the Wall Street Journal in 1994. Walt started his career with Chevron USA after graduating from UC Berkeley with a BS in Mechanical Engineering.
Frank R. Atkinson brings to MACH Energy's Board over 35 years of experience in high-technology and venture finance. At present Frank is a Senior Strategic Advisor to The Trinity Group, a London private equity investment firm, an Advisor to Omazo Ventures, a Toronto venture incubator and a Senior Advisor to The Perreault Birmingham Group, a Palo Alto firm providing investment banking services to technology companies. Previously Frank had been a founder of the HMS Group which managed a series of venture funds focused on seed and start-up investments in the U.S. and the InterArab Investment Fund which made equity investments in the Middle East. Frank was the founder and first president of the Western Association of Venture Capitalists, the venture industry's first professional trade organization with a present membership of over 130 Silicon Valley venture firms.
Earlier venture finance experience includes executive and senior tenures at Continental Capital Corporation, Thompson Clive & Partners and Triad Venture Capital Corporation. Frank was also the founding Managing Director of Imperial Bank's Investment Management Group which made investments on behalf of clients in Latin America, Asia and the U.S. Frank holds a BA degree from Stanford University and a MBA from UCLA. Frank put himself through graduate school by playing for the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Denver Broncos of the NFL.
Jim is a semiconductor industry veteran with 20 years of senior management experience. Most recently, Jim managed an investment fund doing angel investing in start-up companies.
Prior to his investment management role, Jim was CEO of Altos Semiconductor, a start-up company in thermal and system management, which was later sold to Micrel. He has also held various positions at National Semiconductor, including Vice President of the System Products Group.
Jim holds a BS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from UC Berkeley. Jim serves on the board of directors of Abound Logic (formerly M2000), Advasense, BridgeLux, Exclara, Optichron, Powervation, and Mach Energy. Jim also is a board observer at Axiom Microdevices, Aquantia, and SVTC.
George Eckard has been involved in over $5 billion of institutional real estate sales and finance since 1978. He is currently Senior Director of Capital Markets Group at Cushman & Wakefield, one of the world's largest real estate service providers. Prior to joining Cushman & Wakefield, George spent 14 years at Wells Fargo Bank and 7 years at Colliers International. During his career, George has represented a large number of major institutions in acquisition, disposition and finance of commercial real estate, including banks, pension funds, insurance companies, REITs, Wall Street opportunity funds and foreign and domestic private investors.
George has an AB degree in economics from the University of California, Berkeley and an MBA degree from the University of Chicago. In addition, he is a licensed Real Estate Broker and a member of numerous real estate trade organizations.
Kristin Martinez is co-founder and CEO of Sound Point, Inc., a venture development and business advisory company, and the successor to Sound Point Ventures, LLC, started in Seattle in 1998. Through Sound Point Ventures she created Angels with Attitude, the first active angel fund focused on sustainable and cleantech investments. She served as a director and the first CFO of portfolio company, Advent Solar, in Albuquerque, NM, where she helped the company raise its first three rounds of venture funding. Most recently, Kristin was a founder, director and CFO of biotech startup Acoustic Cytometry Systems, Inc., in Los Alamos, NM, an angel-funded company that was acquired in October, 2008.
Kristin spent 10 years in the electric utility industry, focusing on finance and energy efficiency. She was Chief Operating Officer and Treasurer of Pepco Energy Services, Inc., an unregulated spinout from Potomac Electric Power Company (now Pepco Holdings, Inc.) focused on providing energy efficiency services for large national customers.
Kristin has a BS degree from Boston University and an MBA in Finance and Investments from The George Washington University. Kristin is currently on the Board of Directors for MACH Energy, TraceDetect, Mobius Technologies, and CleanSwitch.
